Here at Newgroup, we are a team full of globe trotting locals and well-travelled expats. Our office is filled with creative thinkers who have touched almost every continent, and it’s safe to say that we inspired daily, by our past worldly experiences (read more about our work with the travel group, Equeva).
So it should come to no surprise that travelling has become a past-time that’s close to our hearts – enriching for the mind, and like hot soup for the soul, taking the time to explore the world is an experience (and a privilege) that should be cherished by all. So to get you inspired for your next plane-hopping adventure, here are 5 reasons why the Newgroup team love to travel.
1. You meet amazing people.
Part of the delight of embarking on a journey, is the joy of forging some unexpected relationships along the way. Whether you’re seated next to a back-packing 40 something from Paraguay, or a young romantic off to Paris to meet a lover, it pays to introduce yourself and listen to the tales that are waiting to be told.
2. You feel small.
There’s nothing like that overwhelming sense of wonderment of setting foot in a grand cathedral or meandering along the aisles of an exotic food market. Exposing yourself a diverse set of experiences and locations can leave you feeling like small and insignificant. Though some may fear this state of minimisation, the catharsis of realising your own relative space in the world is in itself, an education.
3. You eat great food.
Though travelling is notorious for upsetting the delicate stomachs of unsuspecting foreigners, one of its most notable delights is immersing yourself in local cuisine and discovering new flavours. From the spices of India, to the smoky grills of Brazil, you’ll be treated to a smorgas of savoury and sweet sensations, unique only the locations you traverse. Eating local food is a rare opportunity for those who are on a search for authenticity and we wouldn’t trade it for anything!
4. You sleep in unique places.
Have you ever cosied up in one of those capsule hotel rooms in Tokyo? Or perhaps you’ve come across an awesome hideaway shack on AirBnB? Either way, travelling opens up limitless possibilities on where and how you sleep. As one of our office travellers have mentioned, there’s nothing quite like sleeping in a hut one day, and settling into a 5 star hotel on the next.
5. You have more stories to tell.
Nothing is quite the same when you return from an exhilarating adventure abroad – with your head filled with sights and scenery only you can recall, the world will never appear the same with your newly attained, worldly perspective. However it is in this period that you are enlivened by your wanderlust and grasp a fresh passion for home. Settling down in a familiar place and recounting your memories with loved ones is a rewarding and refreshing end to an intercontinental expedition.
So,where will your next adventure be?
