My name is Luke and I started my internship at Newgroup Marketing 2 months prior to writing this post.

Unlike my fellow interns I’m doing this internship as part of a course requirement. In order to finish my degree and successfully graduate, I’m required to do a minimum of 105 hours which as of last week I’ve completed, yet i’m still here and hope to be for a good while longer.

I found out about the position through my tutor on a group Facebook page she made for all the students in my course. I felt I would be a good fit and checked out the Newgroup site. With the deadline to obtain a placement fast approaching I polished up my resume and applied that night. Shortly after sending my details through I was contacted and given a series of questions to answer, I was then asked to come in for an interview and had the position 3 days after applying.

The experience has certainly shattered all expectations of work in an agency I had prior, the environment and the attitude has been the biggest perk, it’s what makes me look forward to my Mondays rather than dread them, the motto of a “Never Ending Weekend” is one that is not only preached but practiced and is seen and felt in the attitude of my co-workers. As every agency is different; University cannot adequately prepare you for a work environment and its atmosphere, that’s something you have to experience for yourself.
