Stanley Kubrick once said a film should be a progression of moods and feelings.

I could not agree more with the man, for movies bring so much meaning to our lives. Not only do they provide us with much needed inspiration, they also make us escape reality. To experience life through one body, during one life, is simply not enough. We crave for more. We stand for more.

Movies satisfy that need, for they bring us thrilling epochs, outstanding performances and imaginative gadgets. Oh gadgets…back in the day, I would spend my afternoons playing with Star Wars’ lightsabers or Power Rangers’ futuristic phone, trying to get in contact with extraterrestrial life (spoiler: I never succeeded). But those were toys. And I’m not a kid anymore. So what now? Is it the future yet?

Sometimes reality does catch up and future is instantaneous. Think of Google’s self-driving car – his concept of an autonomous vehicle was already portrayed in science-fiction movies such as Total Recall or Demolition Man. Texting and driving never felt safer…Remember Minority Report’s sexy touch-screen technology ? Well tell me you didn’t feel like Tom Cruise when you first put your hands on an iPhone.

Personally, I could not be more excited for the future. Today is the 21st of October 2015 and is the day to celebrate Marty McFly’s arrival in the iconic movie Back to the Future II. Remember the flying Delorean, the hoverboard, and of course, the famous Nike shoes (codename: Nike MAG) and their powerlace technology? I dreamt of owning a pair when I was younger, and I still do now. And that’s where the magic happens. In a brilliant marketing move, Nike confirmed earlier this year it would release the shoes in 2015. This day has finally arrived. Come on Nike, make the future, now.
