In our last interview, the spotlight was shone on the founder of Newgroup. We stripped away all the formalities and got down to all the nitty-gritty’s with entrepreneurial Roey. In part four, we have chosen to shine the limelight on our military man, Michael. Attractive, intelligent, down to earth, and did we mention that he is French; Michael is the man of the moment!

So Michael, tell us about yourself.
Bonjour! Je m’appelle Michael et je…what? In English? Alright…

Having originally worked for the French military and now living in Australia and studying a Master of Commerce, you have quite a diverse and experienced background. How did you wind up at Newgroup?
I wasn’t satisfied with my job and felt like I needed to change career, so I came all the way down to Australia to study and work in Marketing. I guess that the idea of doing something completely new in a foreign language at the world’s end was my kind of challenge! Let me quote my dad here: “if you don’t play, you can’t win”.

What was it that attracted you to Bondi and Newgroup?
The vibe, most definitely. I’ve learnt throughout the years to trust my gut feelings. I attach great importance to the human relations in the workplace, so I didn’t have to think too much after I met Roey and his team, it just seemed obvious. It’s not every day that you get to work with a crew that is that diverse, that pro and that cool.

What are your hobbies and what do you enjoy doing to de-stress and relax?
I apologize to all the health junkies out there, but I’ll have to go with pizza. There’s nothing like putting the world to rights with friends around a delicious pizza! Otherwise you may find me running around Sydney, reading in the sun or mastering my skills at Street Fighter.

Ok, so hitting you with a direct question, where do see yourself in 3 years time?
In the Opera House’s Concert Hall, singing “My Way” to a standing ovation…

With Newgroup supporting you every step of the way, what a performance that will be! That’s it for part four of “The Office” series. Whether it be indulging in a delicious pizza or relishing in the simplicities of life, the Newgroup office wishes you a happy and well-deserved weekend.

Signing off,
